SEPTEMBER 15, 2013 - UNITED STATES - A Minnesota witness at Eden Prairie reported two encounters with unidentified objects including a boomerang-shaped object that appeared 300 feet from his roof line, according to testimony in Cases 47870 and 47499 both closed as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) announced September 12, 2013. The witness was outside smoking at 10:50 p.m. on May 18, 2013, when the first object was noticed. "Looked up towards the Big Dipper and saw the two oval reddish lights," the witness stated. "Then noticed the crescent shape between the lights. It started on a straight path. Suddenly made multiple S-shaped maneuvers in the pattern of how a snake looks when it moves. Very, very fast." The witness stated he lives near two airports, but has never seen anything like this before. "It was very low and made no sound. The lights were oval and sort of dim. Clear sky. Mild humidity. It lasted maybe 10-15 seconds. It went across the whole sky in this short time and got smaller and faded out like it left the atmosphere." Then five days later on May 23, 2013, the witness had a second sighting while standing on the third floor balcony of his apartment complex. The second report was made directly to Minnesota Field Investigator Susan Birttnen, who also investigated his first sighting. "He saw a black, boomerang-shaped object with reddish-orange dim, oval lights under its wing tips silently approach his building until it was 300 feet away from the roof line," Birttnen stated. "As it continued on a straight line path, it suddenly stopped and then made a 90-degree turn to the heavens. It accelerated away at unbelievable speed and faded away into the distance." Birttnen described the witnesses' feelings at the time. "The witness was in shock and awe at the speed and maneuverability of the object. He realized that this was not a man-made object. The object approached from the northwest and flew off to the southwest. The temperature was chilly with overcast sky and medium fog. There was no precipitation. The sighting was 5-6 seconds in duration. There was a 'weird quiet' feeling in the air during the sighting." Eden Prairie is in Hennepin County, MN, southwest of downtown Minneapolis, population 60,797. Cases 47870 and 47499 are two of 75 May 2013 cases now closed by MUFON investigators as an Unknown. Minnesota is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating, with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Minnesota had 8 reports in August 2013 - the 28th highest reporting state while California had 97 reports - the highest reporting state in the nation.
