Qingalik said the creature was 10 to 15 feet tall. Pictures posted on Facebook show the alleged footprints are 40 centimetres long.

The women said the creature didn't appear vicious, nor did it appear interested in them.

Understandably for such a sighting, the women got scared, hopped on their ATV, and headed back to the community to warn people about what they saw.

Loren Coleman, the director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine, has been studying sasquatch and Bigfoot sightings in North America for more than 50 years.

"It sounds like a traditional kind of sighting. I think the only thing I would wonder about would be the height of 10 feet with a footprint as large as you said. But that happens people exaggerate," he said.

Coleman said Bigfoot or sasquatch tend to be six and a half to eight feet tall. He said they have been spotted throughout the U.S. and Canada since the 1800s.

Since the region has become more populated, Coleman said the sightings have been relegated to the wilderness.

He said he hopes someone took measurements and some good photographs of this most recent sighting.

"If someone could go back there and take some plaster casts, that might be quite helpful in terms of comparing it to the database of other footprints in Canada," he said.

In Nunavik or Nunavut, Coleman suggests sasquatch may hole up in caves to protect themselves from the elements.

He added they may sustain themselves on a diet similar to caribou. However, he said the omnivores are opportunistic and could eat a range of food including salmon or road kill.

Coleman said he is skeptical when he investigates these sightings. He said he wants to make sure it is not just a common animal, or people trying to make a buck.

We were outside watching stars and satellites and all of a sudden I saw this large bright light come from behind the trees. I joking said look at the UFO and then we just all stood there,waiting to hear a sound of an airplane or helicopter because it was low and very large and super bright. No sound came, we heard other airplanes before and after and saw plenty of satellites and shooting stars. We were waiting to see the blinking lights but none came. We watched it move very slowly across the sky and followed it as long as we could. We do not have a very large unobstructed view of the sky. 4 adults and one child saw this. We always watch the sky at night in the summer and never saw something like this without sound or blinking lights so we were all pretty amazed. Everyone just stood and watched and then when it was leaving my sight I ran around to the other side of the house to continue to see it and watched it till it went behind the trees again. I did not run to get camera because I figured it would not look like anything much on film and that it would be gone before I could get it.

This case is one of many that show that black triangular shaped UFOs have been seen over the UK for many years.Note: Names in this report have been changed for privacy reasons.SIGHTING DETAILSIt was early evening on a day in 1978 or 1979. James and his cousin Martin were on their way home to Abridge in Essex in Martin's car. It was a dry evening with a clear sky. Suddenly to the West of them about 400 yards away they spotted an unusual object in the sky. It looked like a large black triangular shaped craft. It appeared to be at least 100 feet across. There was no visible lighting anywhere on it. It was about 500 feet in altitude. The object was moving very slowly on a straight course. James estimates it was moving about 10-20 mph.Martin pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the car. They both watched the object in amazement for several minutes. As he watched James thought to himself "Where's the noise and why doesn't it fall out of the sky going that slow?" He was extremely puzzled by the experience.James told his cousin that if they told anyone about the incident they would be laughed out of every pub they went to. Martin agreed and they decided that they would keep what they saw to themselves. It is a shame that the public can be so un-accepting of this subject - I have no doubt there are many impressive sightings that are never known about because of the ridicule factor. In 2009 James asked Martin if he remembered what had happened and Martin informed him that he still remembered the sighting clearly.Unfortunately so far James has not got back to me with further information so I have no further details, or have any idea of how the sighting ended.SIGHTING ANALYSISFrom the information provided by James, I feel that this was probably a genuine sighting of a Flying Triangle craft. It seems too large to have been an inflatable, kite or radio controlled model of some kind. It was moving too slowly to have been misidentification of a military aircraft such as the stealth bomber, and we must take into account that the object was completely silent. Its appearance, movement and lack of sound all fit with it being a Flying Triangle. In many FT sightings the craft are seen to have corner lights and a large central red or white light underneath. However I have looked into a number of cases where no lighting was seen. Perhaps the craft had lights but they were switched off for whatever reason.Considering the fact it was not dark, there may well have been other witnesses.
